Scottish travellers spend the most money on souvenirs compared to people living in other parts of the UK it has been reported.
According to research from M&S Money, holidaymakers from Scotland spend an average of £69.19 on souvenirs, compared to £57.73 spent by those living in London.
Additionally, Scottish travellers exchange the most money before their holiday, according to the study, changing an average £287 compared to £196 of foreign currency purchased by those over the water in Northern Ireland.
"Our research shows that by taking out more currency in advance, Scots and northerners are getting the best value on their holiday money. Leaving it until you get to the airport to buy travel money costs more as you'll be charged commission and exchange rates tend to be uncompetitive," commented James Yerkess, M&S Travel Money manager.
The study also highlights that Scots spend more of their holiday money on restaurant meals, drinks and snacks than those living in other areas of the British Isles.
However, the research also shows that those living north of the border spend the least on the actual holiday, with 63 per cent spending less than £500 per person, compared to 53 per cent of Londoners.
