Ethical investments allow consumers to "have their cake and eat it", according to one expert.
Jason Hollands, from F&C Asset Management, has claimed that as well offering peace of mind to the ethically-inclined, alternative investment products can also bring favourable returns.
Increased returns for such products have led to a higher up-take of the investment products and has led to a diversification of the historically "niche market", he said.
Mr Hollands added that the market for ethically-responsible individual savings accounts (Isa) and bonds is currently a "very fast growing sector".
He claimed that the public "care" about ethical issues and are now "starting to realise that in pure investment terms, these funds actually perform quite well".
"They can have their cake and eat it," the expert maintained, reminding consumers that "you needn't necessarily compromise the return you're going to get by investing ethically".
These comments from F&C follow views from the Investment Management Association that the popularity of ethical Isas is set to surge in the future.
