Home insurance is far from complicated, one financial services provider notes.
Nationwide is highlighting the simplicity of purchasing cover for home contents and buildings and emphasising the importance of such insurance policies.
Charlotte Sjoberg, the organisation's campaigns manager, observes that some people may fail to buy home insurance because they feel the process is overly complicated, finding it difficult to establish what is needed for buildings and contents cover.
"But what's really important for people to understand is that it is not complicated at all and in fact, having building insurance in particular is incredibly important as it covers things like a fire, vandalism, storms and floods. Being without it is putting your home at real risk," states Ms Sjoberg.
Research from Nationwide indicates that one in five UK residents do not have buildings insurance, with 14 per cent of respondents to its poll also failing to take out contents insurance.
The campaigns manager notes recent examples of extreme weather in Britain and maintains that it is important to be prepared for any eventuality by buying appropriate home insurance.
People should not feel safe just because they do not live in a flood-risk area, she claims, as "you really don't know what could happen".
