Consumers purchasing home insurance with Direct Line are being offered a discount, it has been announced.

Online and telephone applications for home insurance with Direct Line will be rewarded with a discount of one-third, the company states.

Registering at directline.com or calling 0845 266 0104, consumers can purchase the product at a reduced rate.

Features of the home insurance product offered by Direct Line include the standard replacement of old products with new items, excluding clothes.

Additionally, garden cover up to the value of £1,000 is offered, as well as sourced replacement possessions being delivered to the customer's door and the standard provision of up to £1,000,000 worth of buildings cover.

Andrew Lowe, head of Direct Line Home Insurance, points out that the offer is being launched as British consumers look to counter the effects of Christmas over-expenditure.

"By taking advantage of offers such as ours, homeowners can save a whopping third off home insurance and still have peace of mind that they are fully covered should they need to make a claim," he adds.

Andrew Ferguson, editor of thinkbroadband.com, said recently that the expansion of broadband connections in the UK has enabled businesses to expand their customer service repertoire.
