Legal and General Life Insurance Summary
a. Legal and General's monthly premiums start from 20 pence per day and are guaranteed for life insurance policies. If Critical Illness is included customers may choose between guaranteed or reviewable premiums. Premiums will be affected by a number of factors including sex, age, occupation, smoker status, health and the amount of cover.

b. Legal and General's life insurance may be taken over periods of up to 40 years.

c. Legal and General's life insurance includes Terminal Illness benefit at no extra cost. This benefit means that the policy will pay if you are diagnosed with an elligible terminal illness prior to the last 18 months of the plan.

d. Legal and General's life insurance may be set up on a single or joint life basis with joint life policies paying out on the first claim.

e. Legal and General life insurance offers the option to include critical illness at an additional cost. This will pay out a lump sum if you are diagnosed with one of the specified illnesses or disabilities during the term of the policy. Critical illness policies may be taken on a guaranteed or reviewable premium basis.

f. Legal and General life insurance offers the option of waiver of premium benefit. This benefit will pay your premiums if you suffer an illness or accident which stops you working for more than six months. The premiums are waived after an initial 6 months and will continue to be waived until either: you return to work or fitness; you reach the end of your policy term; you reach your 60th birthday or you die.

g. Legal and General life insurance is available on a level or a decreasing term basis. Level term means the amount insured remains the same throughout the policy term. Decreasing Term means the amount of insurance decreases over the term of the policy. This cover is normally chosen to protect a repayment mortgage, so that the amount of insurance decreases roughly in line with the outstanding mortgage.
